It is unfortunate that in the some church circles it seems that more attention has been paid to wives’ responsibility to their husbands than husbands’ responsibility to their wives. While wives are told to submit (Ephesians 5: 22) and love their husbands, husbands are given the great challenge of “dying” for their wives. Clearly this is a picture of mutual submission, a willingness on the part of both husband and wife to lay down their God-given authority for the sake of the other. When there is an unbalanced authority from either marriage partner, relationship problems will arise. A relationship flourishes when both people honour, respect and love each other.
